Company to modernize information technology for Air Force tracking system
FAIRFAX, Va. – October 9, 2018 – United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) Air Mobility Command (AMC) has named ECS the prime awardee of a $51 million contract to develop and sustain its Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES). GATES is an automated information system designed to track, document, manage, and process payment for the global air and surface movement of personnel and cargo across all branches of the Department of Defense (DoD).
Awarded as a firm-fixed-price (FFP), cost-plus contract, the GATES project has a five-year period of performance. ECS will be responsible for full life cycle support, including new development, operations and maintenance, and modernization. As USTRANSCOM positions itself to operate within the cloud, ECS will provide wide-ranging strategic value, drawing on award-winning expertise in cloud migration and a history of supporting mission-critical projects. The company will provide an agile software development team of about 75 personnel to the USTRANSCOM headquarters at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
“GATES is an essential element of an extraordinarily complex logistical undertaking,” said George Wilson, president of ECS. “We are honored to bring our expertise to USTRANSCOM and the US Air Force, as they serve the global transportation needs of the DoD.”
As the United States Air Force component of USTRANSCOM, Air Mobility Command provides airlift, air refueling, air mobility support and aeromedical evacuation services to all branches of the US military.
